Congratulations on your decision to make a move to a new home!

The excitement you experienced when you signed the new home purchase agreement is probably being replaced with anxiety as you now begin to face the many items that must be addressed prior to your dream of owning a new home becoming a reality; decorating appointments, mortgage qualification, pre-start construction meetings and probably the most daunting of them all...selling your current house.

As you begin the process of preparing to list your current house for sale, we have outlined several "truths" about residential real estate that may be helpful to your understanding of the process about to take place. Please read the following items in addition to printing off the "Sellers Checklist" prior to your listing appointment with the assigned real estate agent. We think you will find them to be helpful in simplifying what can become a very detailed and strenuous process.

You need to begin to look at your house as a product and not a home! As with most marketable products, the two most important factors in selling that product are price and condition. If you don't compete with the other listings on these two components you will continue to wait for an offer while your competitors negotiate purchase contracts, and your new home gets closer to completion.
